Sundays at Six 2026 presents Delta Sonics – June 28

Sundays at Six 2026 will kick off on June 28 with Delta Sonics, with their skillful blending of Chicago Blues with Swing, Delta, N’awlins R&B, and early Rock n’ Roll. A huge thank you to the John V. Meyers Farm Bureau Insurance Agency for being our Concert Sponsor for this show, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the generosity of our community! Grab your dinner and dessert from Tacos Martinez and Frosty Acres Rolled Ice Cream, whose food trucks will be on site selling their delicious offerings at each concert this summer. Playing in Colorado since 1992, Delta Sonics is no stranger to the music scene, with an average of 200 shows per year and featuring in numerous major festivals across Colorado and Wyoming, including Taste of Colorado and Cheyenne Frontier Days. Their obvious dedication to their craft has earned them high acclaim in today’s musical zeitgeist, having been voted Denver’s Westword Publication’s “Best Blues Band in Denver” within the last six of nine years, voted “Favorite Band” and “Favorite Duo” in 2023 and 2024 by the Colorado Blues Society, and their very own Al Chesis received the Colorado Blues Society Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 for his impressive vocals and harmonica playing. Their reach extends beyond the mountains of the West, being a ‘go-to’ band for touring national blues acts such as Big Bill Morganfield, Steadyrollin’ Bob Margolin, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Grammy-nominated Lurrie Bell, Grammy-nominated John Primer, the late Pinetop Perkins, and the late Bo Diddley. The group has also opened for the late B.B. King twice, Robert Cray thrice, Jimmy Vaughn twice, and many others. Who are the cool cats behind the magic? Denver doesn’t claim the band to be “the area’s best harmonica-led blues band” for nothing, as frontman Al Chesis has a tendency to bring the house down with his shredding “blues kazoo” solos, smokey vocals, and commanding stage presence. Alongside him is Bob Pellegrino on slide guitar, who has been recognized for his smooth slide guitar magic by the Colorado Blues Society three years in a row. Supplying the rhythmic heartbeat of the group is rising star Alissa Chesis on bass and in-demand Stefan Flores on drums. Don’t just take our word for it, don’t miss Delta Sonics on June 28 at 6:00pm in Cole Park, Alamosa!
