The Alamosa Live Music Association is excited for 2025’s return of Sundays at Six, providing free live music in Cole Park all summer long. The fun continues on Sunday, July 13th at 6:00pm with the harmony-focused Americana, bluegrass, and country band, Lost Penny. Lost Penny is a harmony-focused string band, playing bluegrass-influenced Folk and Americana. Their original songs are gems, often evoking a smile about the lyrics, or getting the audience on the dance floor. Their arrangements of covers are fresh, giving unexpected new life to old standards of all genres. The band includes Nadine Sekerez on guitar and vocals, who writes most of the band’s original songs, Erin Dahlby on mandolin and vocals, Lauren Harris aka Elle Michelle on banjo, Liz Patton on bass, and Caitlin Anderson on fiddle, making up a fun and energetic group of friends and musicians. They are free-range and prone to sing about dogs, Dolly, and Elvis. Check them out at https://deltasonics.net/home and don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes when you come to see the show! ALMA is also thrilled to announce that it is partnering with Yula Cisneros Montoya’s dance studio to offer accompanying dance lessons during our first three concerts of 2025. Yula Cisneros Montoya is the owner of Yula – Pilates and Movement Studio and director of the Youth Ballet Program in Alamosa, Colorado. She has a BFA in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts and has over thirty years of experience as a dancer, performer and educator who teaches specialized dance techniques in ballet, modern, contemporary, African, and Afro-Latino dance aesthetics. She has lived and worked for many years as a performer and dance educator in the Ukraine, Mozambique, South Africa, and in the United States. On Sunday, July 13, Yula will offer another dance workshop to the bluegrass music of Lost Penny, where participants will play with the fundamental shuffle and tap steps performed to syncopated rhythms iconic in bluegrass music.
