What are you currently excited about regarding ALMA and what project(s) are you a part of?
I tend to be involved in every ALMA project, but I’m particularly excited about the upcoming 5th annual Battle of the Bands on June 6 at RioFest!
Why is music important to you? Why do you think it is important for our community?
Music has always been important to me – from 80s New Wave, to Bollywood hits – as a personal form of creative expression. Since being at the helm of ALMA for over a decade, though, I have come to appreciate the unique power of live music to bring people together in a shared experience of joy and celebration. Attend any summer Sundays at Six concert and you’ll understand what I mean!

Where are you originally from and what brought you to the San Luis Valley?
My husband, Alex, and I moved to the Valley in 2012. We are both from California and came to the Valley because we purchased property in Costilla County over 20 years ago.
How long have you been a part of ALMA and how did you get involved?
I started volunteering for ALMA in 2013 (hanging posters, selling tickets at ALMA & Friends, etc.) and was hired as the ALMA Manager in 2015 and have been ALMA’s Executive Director for almost 2 years. This summer season is my 12th with ALMA!
Can you share a favorite memory or milestone from your time on the board?
A peak moment with ALMA was the Sundays at Six concert in August 2024, featuring Groove N’ Motion. EVERYBODY was dancing in the rain with the band, bringing our mission to life (enriching and celebrating the lives of musicians and community members alike, and fostering joy and connection by providing opportunities for diverse cultural expression through live music).
