Sundays at Six continues on August 14 with local favorite, Mariachi San Luis. Head on over to Cole Park at 6:00 PM and enjoy some quality live music right here in Alamosa! Come celebrate our region’s Hispanic heritage with a favorite local Mariachi group. The MOKI food truck will be on site selling some delicious and local dinner items. And please bring a non-perishable item for the food drive to benefit the Alamosa Food Pantry. Can’t make it to the park? Catch the show livestreaming on ALMA’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/almalivemusic, or on ALMA’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/almaconcerts.
Mariachi San Luis – friends and musicians from San Luis and the surrounding communities – has been in the pursuit of Mariachi music since its inception in 1998. Mariachi San Luis is smaller now but our greatest achievement was the instruction and exposure to the Mariachi culture to more than 200 students that spanned a 20-year period. Many of our former members are still playing and enjoying at a professional level in Colorado and beyond. In 2015, Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center from Denver, Colorado inducted Mariachi San Luis into Chicano Music Hall of Fame and recognizing their dedication and hard work toward the preservation and performance of Mariachi music. Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center has established a national reputation for homegrown productions that speak to the history and experience of Chicanos. Since its inception in 1998, the mission of Mariachi San Luis has been to perform, promote, appreciate and preserve Mariachi music in a wholesome community atmosphere free of alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs. Mariachi San Luis has proudly and positively promoted San Luis and the joyous sounds wherever they go.
There are three more Sundays at Six concerts this month! Please see the complete lineup here: https://www.almaonline.org/sundays-six/
