The Alamosa Live Music Association presents SLV Big Band at Sundays at Six, August 21, in Cole Park, Alamosa. SLV Big Band is proudly “keeping Jazz alive in Southern Colorado.” Come out and dance with us!
The SLV Big Band was formed in November 2003 with the idea of bringing Jazz and Big Band music to the San Luis Valley. Since its inception it has played at a number of events throughout the San Luis Valley. The band has played at fundraisers, community activities, and parties. The band is made up of people with a variety of different backgrounds and careers, ranging from retired and current band directors, information technology technicians, lawyers, and more. Every year, SLV Big Band honors veterans with a free concert. They also offer a free concert on Labor Day weekend in Salida for their town picnic. And each year, SLV Big Band contributes to ALMA’s promotion of music in the San Luis Valley by offering a free concert in Cole Park, Alamosa.
Sundays at Six is a free outdoor concert series in Cole Park, Alamosa. Concerts start at 6 p.m. Check out this year’s lineup. In case of bad weather, go to ALMA’s website and Facebook page to find out about cancellations or change of venue.
